Panasonic’s 42-inch HDTV-compatible plasma display creates eye-popping imagery with stunning contrast and a unique adaptive brightness intensifier that increases peak brightness. The 16:9 wide-format screen can be seen from anywhere within a wide horizontal viewing angle of 160 degrees, and is coated to reduce reflections. The PT42PHD4P can display up to 16.77 million colors at a native resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels, or at HDTV resolutions of 720p or 1080i. It boasts an incredible 3,000:1 contrast ratio--3 to 6 times higher than that of many comparable displays. In addition, its adaptive brightness intensifier, which regulates the number of discharge cycles, increases the number of split-second flashes on the screen to create brighter scenes. The unit’s asymmetrical cell structure contributes to finer balance of reds, blues, and greens. Finally, advanced progressive processing and dual scanning mean you’ll see smoother video. For international video input, the PT42PHD4P can accept not only NTSC (North America/Japan format) video signals, but also SECAM, PAL, and PAL 60 Hertz. Its onscreen menus can be displayed in any of seven languages--U.S. or British English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, or Spanish. The display can be used as a computer monitor (in VGA, compressed SVGA, XGA, SXGA, and UXGA formats) using the RGB (D-Sub) connection. It also accepts high-resolution component-video inputs (both Y Pb Pr and Y Cb Cr), S-video, composite-video inputs, and a set of RGB video inputs using BNC-type plugs. PT-42PHD4-P is a 42" diagonal widescreen plasma display HDTV monitor. It combines a nifty design and a high functionality with the comfort you need. A high 3000:1 contrast ratio provides deep blacks and bright whites. The unique advanced plasma brightness intensifier automatically increases the number of discharge cycles (time) to achieve a dramatic improvement in peak brightness. It expands the dynamic range of all images - from black-to-white peak - to deliver pictures with naturally high levels of contrast. S-video input jack allows you to connect a DBS (digital broadcast satellite), DVD player, or other video source directly to the luminance and chrominance circuits of the TV set. By keeping color and luminance information separate, cross-color interference is virtually eliminated from the picture.
